Psycho-Pass, radio drama 2,4,7

I finally got to watch Psycho-Pass about a week ago. Great show so far. If I hadn't spent all my money on K blurays, I'd've definitely bought Psycho-Pass blurays. Well, I'm still buying the novel, anyway. But that aside, I was surprised there's barely any mention of Psycho Pass Radio and Radio Dramas (here, but don't expect quality sound). I mean, seriously? It feels kind of weird compared, for example, to the fact that everybody knows about K dramas. Unfair, especially when PP dramas are so lovely. Correcting some that unfairness down below.

Men's aesthetics: Glasses chapter, 24 hours a day
Ginoza(monologue): In this era, where curing bad eyesight is possible, glasses became nothing more than accessory. The glasses I wear also have no vision correction function and are so called glasses for show. But fashion is not the only reason I wear glasses. I feel that by always keeping my glasses - in a way, the point of contact with the world around me - clean, I can preserve the health of my psycho-pass.
Ginoza: You're late, Kougami.
Kougami: Yeah, sorry. Shion caught me and had me help her out with tidying up the warehouse where material evidence is stored.
Ginoza: Your suit is ruined. And you've got dust all over you.
Kougami: Yeah, that warehouse is in awful condition. But more importantly, Gino, about the accident we--
Ginoza: Wait. There's dust on the lenses of my glasses. I need to wipe it first.
Kougami: You're worrying too much over some tiny speck of dust.
Ginoza: Leaving dirt on your glasses is directly connected to letting your psycho-pass get cloudy. Although a latent criminal like you who have already exceeded the safe limit of the crime coefficient may not care about it.
Kougami: Huh. Alright, I get it. Hurry up and wipe your glasses clean.
Ginoza: Alright, I will now give... a detailed account of the acci-- What are you doing?
Kougami: Don't you see? The plants in our office withered, so I'm watering them while you're cleaning your glasses.
Ginoza: Stop doing unnecessary things. You sprayed my glasses with water in the process! OK, done. Well, let's go back to what I was saying about the-- Why do you have that appliance on your table, Kougami?
Kougami: Ah? I got chilled to the bone working in the warehouse, so I thought I'll make some coffee. Want some, Gino?
Ginoza: If you wanted coffee, we have a coffee server installed in the hall, you know.
Kougami: Decaf coffee won't help me clear my head. Don't mind me and just continue.
Ginoza: *sigh* The accident took place last night, in the bay coast district. According to the witnesses-- Hey, Kougami!
Kougami: What now?
Ginoza: Turn off that pot this instance! My glasses got fogged up because of the steam, and I can't see the letters!
Kougami: Oops, my bad. Indeed, your glasses are so fogged up that they turned completely white.
Ginoza: Kougami, is this your way of getting on my nerves?
Kougami: Gino, you're reading too much into it. I put away the pot, see? Now, why don't you just drink this coffee and relax a little?
Ginoza: Tsk. I'll continue. When Unit 2 arrived to the scene, it was strangely-- Agh! Kougami!
Kougami: I got hungry, so on my way back I ordered some curry udon in the dining hall to be delived to the office. It's just arrived.
Ginoza: Agh! Gah! Eck! Stop it, Kougami!
Kougami: Mn?
Ginoza: Splashes of the soup from your udon are flying all around!
Kougami: Hey, you better calm down, Gino. Or at this rate your psycho-pass will get dirty faster than you glasses!
Ginoza: And whose fault it will be?! Somebody, shoot him with the Dominator already! Argh! Wah! Arh! There's onion on my glasses! Aagh!
Ginoza(monologue): Tokyo. In this ideal city crime is still budding, propagating in secret. Like splatter of curry soup persistently sticking to your glasses, refusing to be removed. We at the Public Safety Bureau have eradication of that curry - I mean crime - in this city as our topmost priority.

Joyful drinking according to the plan, 24 hours a day
Kunizuka: Inspector, the preparations are finished. If Kougami is ready, we can begin.
Ginoza: Good. This is Shepherd 1. Hound 3, do you copy?
Kougami: This is Hound 3. I've arrived to the entry point with a drone. I'm good to go anytime.
Ginoza: Does everybody have the plan memorized? The criminal we're dealing with this time is a hacker who's skilled in holo-cracking. We don't know what kind of tricks and traps he might have set in the building, so we'll flush him out to the street and arrest him there.
Kunizuka&Kougami: Roger.
Ginoza: Mission start. Kunizuka, I'll pin down the cat leader once he jumps out to the street. Don't mess up.
Kunizuka: Got it. But Inspector, you, too, please try to do without injuring yourself today.
Kougami: This is Hound 3. As planned, the target is trying to escape, heading to the back door. I'm charging in as well.
Ginoza: There he comes. Public Safety Bureau! Surrender yourself, Cheshire cat! You have nowhere to run anymore! What the hell? He disappeared, and the surrounding scenery is distorting? Don't tell me he managed to crack the street holography system!
Kunizuka: At this rate the criminal will escape! What are we going to do?
Kougami: Gino! Kunizuka! Are you OK?
Ginoza: Is that you, Kougami? The situation is worse than if we were in a closed space. I can't even tell which way he's headed.
Kougami: Let me handle this. I expected something like this to happen, so I brought a bottle of alcohol with me that I took from Gramps' table.
Kunizuka: Spirytus? I see, you want to trigger the outdoor automated fire fighting system with flames, just like indoors.
Ginoza: Why there's a big type drone here?! Kougami, watch out!
Kougami: What is it, Gino! Shit, I accidentally swallowed the alcohol I had in my mouth!
Ginoza: Sorry. Looks like that drone was just a hologram. However, the perpetrator might use the holograms as a cover and attack us, so don't let your guard down.
Kougami: That little fucker, screwing with us like this! Alright, one more try...
Ginoza: This time the outer wall of the building is crumbling down! Kougami, dodge! Another hologram?
Kunizuka: What are you waiting for, Kougami?! Activate the fire fighting system already!
Kougami: Wait a few moments, Kunizuka. Even I need a little breather after swallowing two mouthfuls of the alcohol like this...
Ginoza: You're being too slow, Kougami. Can't be helped, then. Give me the bottle, I will do it.
Kougami: Gino, watch out! A car!!! It disappeared... Just a hologram again, huh. I can't tell reality and illusions apart because of the alcohol I consumed and the hacked holography system...
Kunizuka: Inspector? Are you alright?
Kougami: What's wrong, Gino?!
Ginoza: I, too, swallowed the alcohol I had in my mouth... My throat is burning... What's that drink, anyway?
Kunizuka: It's Spirytus, and its alcoholic content is 96%. You'd better not push yourself too hard for now...
Ginoza: No, I'm fine. This time, I'll make sure I'll do it right. But, come to think of it, this is the first time in my life I drank real alcohol, and something as strong as 96% to boot... But once it got past my throat, it doesn't seem all that potent. Actually, I'm rather surprised you got drunk off it, Kougami, as it means you're... nothing... special...
Kunizuka: Inspector?!
Kougami: Hey, Gino, are you OK?! Gino!!!
Kunizuka(monologue): Because of the Inspector in charge of supervising the operation having been incapacitated due to unforeseen circumstances, the criminal managed to escape. In the report we submitted no reason as to what circumstances he fell victim to was specified, and this fact, in a certain sense, can be regarded as the enforcers' display of kindness.
Tsunemori: Good morning, Inspector Ginoza!
Ginoza: Inspector Tsunemori... Could you please not talk so loudly? Your voice is reverberating inside my head...
Tsunemori: I am sorry... but what is wrong with you? Kougami-san is also not feeling well today for some reason... Did something happen yesterday during the field investigation?
Kunizuka: Tsunemori-san, later I will tell you all about the Inspector's... outstanding performance yesterday.
Tsunemori: Um, Ginoza-san? Where are you going? Ginoza-san...?

The doggy policeman, 24 hours a day
Karanomori: Oh, are you here all alone, Shin'ya-kun?
Kougami: Did something happen, Shion? You have some business with me?
Karanomori: Well, not quite, but... Please come in here, sweetheart.
Kougami: Hm? Who is this girl?
Karanomori: She was crying in the lobby on the first floor. Seems like she came to visit her father. Say, dear, what is your dad's name?
Girl: I don't know...
Karanomori: It's been like this since I found her, so we make no progress whatsoever. That's why I took her inside the bureau.
Kougami: I bet you did it because you thought, 'A kid all alone in a place like this? There must be some special circumstances surrounding her, then! This totally looks like fun!', right?
Karanomori: No way, Shin'ya-kun! I did it purely out of goodness of my heart, I swear!
Kougami: Then there was no need to take her all the way to our, Unit 1's, office, was there? You're incorrigible, you know that? Alright, little missy, could you tell me your name?
Girl: Miki.
Karanomori: Huh?! She refused to utter a word when I was asking her that! How come she suddenly feels like readily talking to a bummy guy like you, Shin'ya-kun?!
Kougami: Well, sorry for being bummy. Miki-chan, what does your dad look like? Is he taller than me?
Girl: Maekami. (T/N: sounds the same as 'bangs')
Kougami: Hm?
Girl: Maekami, and daddy also has glasses.
Kougami: Bangs and glasses, you say?
Karanomori: Shin'ya-kun, could it be...?!
Kougami: Yeah, looks like it... I can't think of anyone else in the Bureau who matches that description.
Karanomori: I entertained a thought that she might be the child of someone I know, but this turned out so much more amusing! *phone rings* Karanomori listening. Ah, good job. Yes, I have finished analyzing the data. You need it urgently? Yes, I got that. Shin'ya-kun, I'm sorry, but I have to go bring the analyzed data to Unit 2 on short notice... Could you look after her for a while?
Kougami: Well, I don't exactly mind...
Karanomori: Great! I'll be right back!
Kougami: But really, to think that he had an illegitimate child... Say, Miki-chan, do you love your daddy?
Girl: Yes, I love him very much.
Kougami: I see...
Ginoza: Kougami, the investigation got approved. Now we need to prepare for the urgent crossexami-- Oh? Who is this child?
Kougami: Don't play dumb, Gino. You may want to hide your relation to her for whatever reason, but as a human, I find such an act unforgivable.
Ginoza: Wait a second here. What are you even talking about?
Kougami: Still gonna play dumb even in this situation? This girl is your daughter, isn't she?
Ginoza: Daughter...? Daughter?! This makes no sense! I have no children!!!
Kougami: You really don't know when to give up, Gino. Miki-chan, this person is you daddy, right?
Girl: No.
Kougami: Eh?
Girl: This person is not Miki's papa. Papa! I want to see papa!
Kougami: Gino isn't the father, huh?
Ginoza: Kougami, you better give me a clear explanation of what this all means. How come I suddenly became this girl's father?!
Karanomori: Hey, boys, what are you doing?! How could you make a child cry?! Ah, it's alright, it's alright, sweety. Bad, bad guys, scared you so much.
Kougami: Shion, looks like Gino is not her father.
Ginoza: That goes without saying!
Karanomori: Ah, yeah, about that. I found out something. When I came to Unit 2, I heard a talk that the daughter of a person from General Affairs got lost. And you know what his name is? You won't believe it - Maekami!
Kougami: Maekami? Ah, I recall now. Indeed, there was a guy with glasses in General Affairs.
Karanomori: Alright, Miki-chan, we now know where to find your dad, so I'll take you to him. Let's go.
Kougami: Oh man, with this, things are cleared up, and the case is closed.
Ginoza: Not so fast, Kougami. Maekami from General Affairs? Tell me, why on earth you thought I was his daughter's father?
Kougami: Ah, well, that's because she said about glasses and maega--
Ginoza: What? I didn't hear you.
Kougami: Ah, nothing. That's what my intuition told me. You know, the hound's intuition.
Ginoza: Don't play with me! You were confident when you made that claim! Which means you had some solid grounds for that conclusion, didn't you?!
Kougami: Oh well, don't let it get to you. More importantly, you said the investigation was authorized, right? Then we gotta prepare for it on the double. Where was that case file, again?
Ginoza: Kougami!!!

AHAHA!! I laughed most of the time while reading this. OMG. Ginoza, you're such a cutieee.. xDDD

The glasses incident, haha. xD
The alcohol, lolz, this just changed my view of the man. (>.<)
The incident being the father, haha, omg. <3

Great way to start my day!
Thank you so much for translating this~ <3
Hey Creiz, PP is very well, but when we will get some translations about Chihayafuru ?
Someday? There's lack in manpower, as always, especially for this manga, and I'm not very enthused to speed things up after Taichi's loss, so 待つしかないな。
Ah, Taichi loses the match? ;__; But maybe it means that he'll kick ass in the next match (based on the assumption that if he won this one, the next and more important battle could be a loss #just guesstimation)
OMG PSYCHO-PASS WHAAAAAAAT :D :D :D Oh man, I was already getting withdrawals symptoms even though I'd just watched ep15 a few hours ago (it just keeps getting better and better... *crying happily*), so this is perfect. WAH GINO-KUN WAI U SO ADORABLE? *glomps him* And LOL over Kougami and Gino's epic fail at imitating Masaoka-san XD Thank you so much for the translations! This made my day, especially since I didn't even know there were PP radio dramas ^.^
Thanks so much!!!
I'm in love with Psycho Pass and I didn't know this kind of thing existed.
I appreciate a lot your translations, I had lots of fun reading them, especially the one with the glasses!
Kougami and Gino made me laugh with their interaction.
Great stuff!!! :D
Aww, those drama trascripts are hilarious!:D Gino and Kougami foil each other just perfectly. Thank you:)

Do you want to discuss PP in some detail?:) I have just watched episode 15 and am very curious at to what big reveal Urobutcher has prepared for us in the next episode ^^
Yessss, I'm loving Kougami/Gino interactions, too!;)

I'm pretty sure someone is going to die this time (all of us know it will happen sooner or later... since it's Urobutcher we're talking about, right?). The team division in Unit 1 is usually like this: Ginoza, Kagari, Yayoi form Team 1, and Tsunemori, Masaoka and Kougami Team 2. From how this was changed this time around (Kagari and Masaoka swapped places, putting Masaoka in his son's team), it practically spells 'death flag' for both of them or at least one of them. Masaoka's chances to die are, admittedly, a lot greater than Kagari's, though... there was that talk between him and Gino a couple of episodes back, and the fact he's the oldest and now in his son's team... I suspect he'll die with a smile on his face and apology on his lips to Gino while protecting his only son, saving his life... so damn sad :(

I just hope Gino survives, I kinda like him the best among all of them.

And the true nature of the Sybil system... I'm kinda at a loss as to what it really might be... Probably the only thought that came to my mind was, 'Isn't the thing human powered then? Like, using the computing power of human brain instead of technology which would explain what that hacker with Makishima was talking about'.

Edit: Just took a look at the ep16 spoilers... Looks like no Team Gino this episode, and I was right about the switch in the team members being meaningful.

Edited at 2013-02-03 09:01 am (UTC)
DEATH FLAG yes, indeed. I'm more attached to Masaoka than Kagari, but seeing him die would be no pleasant experience nontheless T__T

I had absolutely the same guess about the possibily of Sybil System being powered by human brains (otherwise there would be little need in making all data come to one place)

What do you think of Akane? Have you seen this theory? I am not inclined to believe it, but there is a fair chance they put the asymptomatic people to some use after brainwashing...
You made a mistake in the alchol drama cd.

It's Spiritus.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spirytus_rektyfikowany

Not Spirits. That's why Kunizuka mentions it's 96% alchol and that Gino needs to take it easy.
Thanks:) Fixed. *me, obviously, no expert on alcohol, being a nondrinker except, maybe, a couple times a year on the grandest of holidays.*
This is so awesome~ Thank you for translating! I happen to stumble upon a fanmade video of the first part somewhere (on niconico I think) and was laughing even though I wasn't able to understand much about what is actually happening. But now that I finally do, I am laughing twice as hard xD Thank you!! PP need more love ❤

But omg, Gino!! (≧∇≦)
thanks for the translations~
